A bowl of popcorn is always a fun snack. This Italian inspired popcorn dish with a hint of parmesan cheese is also a great addition to your appetizer spread. Surprise your guests, they will be sure to ask how you made it and you don’t have to tell them it only took 15 minutes.
Pop the popcorn either with hot air popcorn maker, stovetop saucepan or microwave any way you pop it, enjoy it!
INGREDIENTS
2 teaspoons Italian seasonings
grated parmesan or Romano cheese, to taste
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon Kosher salt, to taste
4 tablespoons un-popped popcorn kernels
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
or 2 bags commercial microwave packaged popcorn, PLAIN, unbuttered
PREPARATION
Tool: food processor.
Add all ingredients (except popcorn and vegetable oil) to a food processor. Mix until blended, about 10 seconds. Then transfer the Italian seasoning butter to a small bowl and set aside.
Prepare Popcorn
Microwave popcorn according to package instructions
Stovetop: In a medium sized pot, add the oil and popcorn. Cover and place on a medium heat. Shake the pan frequently while the pan is heating. When the popping slows to less than a pop per second, remove from the heat and carefully lift the lid away from your face. Place popcorn in a large bowl.
Assemble: Pour the Italian seasoning butter mix over the popcorn and toss lightly with hands (can wear disposable gloves) until evenly coated. Serve warm or room temperature.
If leftover, store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
