Whoa, There’s a Much Better Way to Use a Garlic Press
WHAT IS A GARLIC PRESS?
A garlic press, or garlic crusher, is a kitchen tool that looks similar to a nutcracker. It turns fresh garlic into minced garlic by dropping garlic coves into the well and pressing it through small holes. A garlic press is a reliable time-saver because it spares you from having to finely mince each clove of garlic.

If you don’t own a garlic press- well, now is the time to invest in one. The price range is between $6.00-$20.00. Low side, it’s still a reliable investment.
The result: In ten seconds (or less), you’ll have fragrant minced garlic. The wrapper? It stays tucked away inside the press.
But first let’s clear up something…to all my peeps who enjoy chopping and mincing garlic with a knife – don’t hate! Be nice! Stop with the face puckered – judgemental scowl. Keep scrolling – this blog post isn’t for you! Be nice😊
I’ve scoured the internet on the subject of Pressing Garlic— here’s what I found: How to Use A Garlic Press
What you need:
A garlic press and a clove of garlic
Step 1 — Prepare your garlic. Break a clove of fresh, good garlic away from its bulb. Or use pre peeled garlic. But here’s the clincher: You can leave the peel on. Not peeling garlic takes this gadget from unnecessary to unparalleled.
You have options: unpeeled or peeled.
Step 2 — To Crush Your Garlic:
Place a bowl underneath the press to catch the crushed garlic. Open the garlic press and drop a fresh garlic clove inside the well or bowl of the press. (You can also cut the cloves in half.) Then close.
Step 3 — Releasing the Minced Garlic
Press down and squeeze on the two handles, which will crush your garlic clove and turn it into tiny pieces; extracting golden, fragrant minced garlic. Use a butter knife or small spoon to scrape off the crushed garlic that remains on the press.
Step 4 — Clean your garlic press.
A heavy-duty, stainless steel garlic press is a dishwasher-safe kitchen utensil. You can also wash the garlic press by hand, using a toothpick, silicone cleaning tool, or cleaning brush to free garlic residue from the grid of small holes. If the garlic pieces are tough to remove, try soaking the entire garlic press in soapy hot water. Presses with larger holes may be easy to clean with a simple sponge.
